Rosia Montana. August 26, 7:40 AM
Rosia Montana is a village in Alba county, Romania very rich in gold. The region was exploited for over 2000 years, starting with the Romans – a lot of remains still to be found. Today, Gabriel Resources wants to replace the old mines with new ones, but this has caused a huge controversy, as their solution would destroy 5 mountains, a unique patrimony (the roman mines), 10 churches, 12 cemeteries and almost 1,000 households. A huge concert (mainly Rock but Hiphop and Electro is also represented) is being held here every year for the past 3 years, in sign of protest, against the companies that are interesting in making profits.
